A new systematic review found that probiotics seemed to seemed to provide both children and adults with some protection from upper respiratory-tract infections, including the common cold. The review also found that those taking probiotics were less likely to need to take an antibiotic for an upper respiratory-tract infection.

A flu expert said he sees no reason to believe the virus is particularly lethal.”
