The EM® Ceramics emit an ultrasonic frequency (around 30 kilohertz) that will cleave or break the water molecule and dissolved solid clusters apart and improve hydration.
At the same time, the impurities adsorb or stick to the surface of the ceramics. Over time, the pores in the ceramics will be plugged with the dissolved solids. The ceramics can easily be cleaned and recharged by soaking them in EM-1® for 24 hours. Dry thoroughly before reusing.
In fish aquariums, residual feed and droppings tend to decay and rot. This process produces ammonium nitrogen, which can be harmful to the tank's ecosystem. Type N EM-X® Ceramics are very effective at absorbing this nitrogen.
